VSPEX BLUE

Contributor(s): Matthew Haughn

VSPEX™ BLUE is a hyper-converged appliance from EMC Corporation that includes compute, memory and storage resources in a single device.

Hyper-converged systems have a software-centric architecture integrating and coordinating compute, storagenetworking and virtualization resources and other technologies within a commodity hardware box.

VSPEX BLUE combines VMware's VSAN hyper-convergence software with its data protection and cloud features. The appliance uses dual Intel Xeon E5 v2 processors in four nodes, each with four channels of memory and up to eight R-DIMMs. The system has 400 GB of solid-state storage with three 1.2 TB spinning disks per node. EMC offers InfiniBand or 10-Gb Ethernet networking.
